Dependent Relative Tax Rebate Form
Claim Your Dependent Relative Tax Rebate
Thousands of people in Ireland have a dependant relative, but do not claim the annual Dependent Relative Tax allowance, which is increasing to €245 per relative from January 1st 2021.
You are entitled to claim for any elderly dependent relatives whether they reside in Ireland or elsewhere in the world. The rebate could be worth up to €980 to you for each dependent relative over the past 4 years.
You may qualify for this rebate if:
- you provide financial support to a dependent relative (who lives in Ireland, or overseas) – for example you send them money, or you contribute to their living costs
- the relative’s income is less than €15,060 per year
- the relative is an immediate family member such as a parent, aunt, uncle, or your spouse or civil partner’s parent, aunt or uncle.
This rebate is often substantial for our customers. With the allowance increasing from €70 to €245 per dependant relative from 1st of January, if you have supported 4 people in 2021, you will be able to claim a rebate of €980. We can also claim this allowance for you for the last 4 years.
